Dr. Michael Hein has over 20 years of healthcare leadership experience in multi-specialty practice, large integrated health systems, academic medicine, and start-up companies. He has extensive clinical leadership experience and in-depth knowledge of system-based transformational change work.

Michael Hein, MD, MS, MHCM, FACP is co-owner and co-founder of KPI Ninja, a healthcare analytics as a service company where he provides strategic leadership direction and operational support.

Dr. Hein has over 20 years of healthcare leadership experience in multi-specialty practice, large integrated health systems, academic medicine, and start-up companies. He has extensive clinical leadership experience and in-depth knowledge of system-based transformational change work. He integrates his past skills as an athletic coach, teacher, clinician, and draws upon his numerous healthcare leadership roles to inform his work with clients towards elevating individual leadership and organizational performance within complex systems.

Dr. Hein is a former CEO of a large (60 member) non-merger network of hospitals and health systems in the Midwest. He served as Chief Medical Officer of a medium-sized community hospital within the Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) system. Within CHI, he served in numerous regional and national improvement efforts. Other leadership roles have included several medical director and directorship positions within acute and long-term care as well as the primary care and specialty medicine service line leader for an extensive, fully-integrated health system. He practiced fifteen years in rural Nebraska and South Dakota before assuming full-time administrative roles.

Dr. Hein earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Sandford School of Medicine at The University of South Dakota. He received a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota as well as a Master’s in Health Care Management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is a certified Executive Leadership Coach at Hudson Institute for Coaching. Dr. Hein trained as a general internal medicine physician at Gundersen Health in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Dr. Hein’s focus areas of interest include physician leadership development, executive leadership transitions, physician burnout, and leading from wholeness.

He also owns and operates a busy executive leadership coaching and consulting firm. His current and past clients have come from healthcare, finance, and from non-profit organizations and churches. His consulting work has been focused on Physician Peer Review and other primary care transformational change efforts.

Currently, he and his wife, Connie, reside in rural central Nebraska where he serves on the board and as coach of the Nebraska Medicine Cycling Team and volunteers at his local church in numerous roles. Dr. Hein is an avid cyclist and swimmer, and he continues to coach cyclists and completive swimmers, which he has done his entire adult life. He and his wife have three adult children who currently reside in Nebraska.

Vineeth Yeddula, PMP, CLSSMBB, CMQ/OE is co-founder of KPI Ninja, a leader in healthcare analytics and performance improvement. Mr. Yeddula is responsible for setting the strategies for the organization and overseeing the business operations to produce the desired results that are consistent with the overall strategy and direction.

Mr. Yeddula has over 8 years of healthcare leadership experience working with Health Information Exchange (HIE) companies, regional provider networks, health systems, critical access hospitals, and Direct Primary Care (DPC) organizations to improve patient outcomes and overall performance. With extensive experience in quality, performance improvement, advanced analytics, and project management, Mr. Yeddula helps organizations in creating a data-driven, team-based, continuously improving, and patient-centered organizational performance improvement culture.

Mr. Yeddula also consults and leads the build of analytics infrastructure for the state based Health Information Exchange (HIE) company, NeHII. In this capacity, Mr. Yeddula supports NeHII with several quality and analytics initiatives like QCDR, TCPI, and QE programs. Mr. Yeddula has also served as the Chief Analytics Officer for Enhance Health Network. In this role, Mr. Yeddula led the development of network-wide business and clinical informatics and analytics capabilities.

Mr. Yeddula holds a Masters in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering from University of Nebraska, Lincoln and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP); a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (CLSSMBB); a Certified Manager in Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE); a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE); and he is a member of American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Justin Horn is a highly experienced insurance, marketing, and leadership executive who has proven his ability to lead diverse teams of professionals and clients to new levels of success in the ever-changing employee benefit industry and in fast paced economic and political environments.  Justin’s approach to healthcare and employee benefits is to constantly challenge the status quo and focus on innovation and new thinking.  He has done this through his extensive work in the self-funded industry, through work with stop loss and reinsurance, captives, cost containment and risk management companies, Direct Primary Care organizations, and other alternative risk transfer programs.

Justin immediately began his career in employee benefits after earning his B.S. Degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  From there, he managed regional territory offices for a national Third Party Administrator (TPA) of self-funded health plans for 7 years before being promoted to national vice president of sales – a post he held for 3 years before returning to private consulting.  While in the self-funded business, Justin earned the Certified Self-Funded Specialist (CSFS) professional designation.

At home, Justin and his wife Kelly enjoy being with their two children: Haley (10) and Wes (6).  Justin is dedicated to serving his community through his work with underprivileged youth by coaching baseball, soccer, hockey and other volunteer work.  Justin’s work also includes support of JDRF and the Children’s Hospital Community Foundation.
