FOR DOCTORS: Social Distancing Ideas … “Five Phone Calls a Day.”

What a weekend. Actually, what a month!

It seems now that every Monday brings a new mandate which is changing for the moment, our everyday lives.

The term “Social Distancing” has new meaning and is now a part of our everyday vernacular. Where this phrase wasn’t even a term we had really ever used before just one month ago.

With Physicians offices inundated with phone calls, emails and social media posts citing true and false news and weird cases, its a new world we now live in for the moment.

We’re reminded of the phrase “This too shall pass.”

Indeed, it will.

But, that’s not helpful when you face the reality of your morning or your day.

Many of you are voluntarily walking every day into a pressure cooker.

You’re work in the hospital, inside your small [or large] practice, your work in the community and even inside the exam room is now more important than ever.

Thank you!

Our hearts, thoughts, prayers, and continued appreciation extend to you during a time when we need our Doctors the most working in our communities.

Again, thank you!

In the event you are approaching a breaking point, a moment of solace or a moment of peace, we at Concierge Medicine Today want to remind you that now is your moment.

This is a tough day.

You have every right and excuse and story to support leaving and quitting.

It’s been a rough day.

However, now is your moment to bring hope, strength, and peace of mind to your community.

We’ve said for a while now, “It’s not about being the best Doctor IN the World, it’s about being the best Doctor FOR the world and the community you live and work in.”

You can act. You can lead. You can serve.

Thank you for the work you’ve done and the days you wake up wondering how you can possibly start again, just to do it all over.

You’re not alone. We’re in this together.

There’s a whole lot of worry and fear outside your doors right now that keeps calling and waiting for your insight.

Here’s just a couple of small ideas that may help you delegate some duties to your staff, get your healthy Patients involved that was shared with us earlier this morning.

  1. Five Phone Calls a Day. We are asking the team, your staff, etc., who currently work at your office right now … to call just five people in your practice a day as a way to check-in and ask how your Doctor and his/her staff can help them. Maybe it’s just checking in on an elderly widow you saw in the office last month and thought they might need a dose of encouragement. These phone calls are an important way to calm and relieve the pressure valve for people who are stuck in their homes trying to abide by social distancing protocols.

It’s just one idea. If that’s not for you, we get it.

That might now work for your practice and that’s okay.

Here’s another idea, particularly for the healthy in your practice …

2. Support your local food bank.

As you know, school closures are impacting children who depend on lunch programs. One of the ways you can show your community you are FOR PATIENTS is to partner with your local food bank and call them and find out when food drop-offs in the form of a drive-thru can be accomplished in your community.

You can communicate this and still encourage “social distancing” protocols through email or your social media platforms.

3. Encourage Patients to Give blood.

You’ve probably hear the radio solicitations right now in your local area asking to continue to donate blood. Illnesses other than COVID-19 haven’t slowed down. In fact, COVID-19 is just making some health systems bust at the already busy seams.

So, reach out to the Red Cross in your area and ask them about safe ways you can encourage some Patients to give blood while still allowing them to follow “social distancing” protocols.
