The Association of Independent Doctors offers consumers five ways to work around ‘those in the middle’ to save money, get better value, take control of their health care
(WINTER PARK, Fla) – Consumers who feel left in the dark about how America’s health-care system became so complicated – and expensive — will welcome a new video short released today by the Association of Independent Doctors, a national nonprofit trade association dedicated to lowering health-care costs.
EP. 204 | DocPreneur Podcast | Employed Vs. Independent Doctors: Which Path Is Right For You? Exclusive with Marni Jameson Carey, MA, of AID-US.org
The under-three-minute, animated feature titled “Healthcare Uncomplicated” looks at how the patient-doctor relationship has turned into the doctor-hospital-insurance-employer-government-patient relationship.
“Many of those in the middle are profiting handsomely and would like to leave the rest of us in the dark,” said Marni Jameson Carey, AID’s executive director, who narrated and produced the video.
“Costs have snowballed,” she said, “and nothing melts a snowball faster than sunshine, which is what this video offers.” After shedding some light on how America’s health-care system became the world’s most expensive, the video offers consumers five ways they can work around those in the middle, pay less and get better value for their health-care dollar.
“Such information is critical today as patients are paying higher premiums, deductibles and copays than ever before,” said Carey. “One out of every five dollars the average American earns goes to pay for health care, even if that person never goes to the doctor.”
AID works with its nationwide network of independent doctors to help keep the practice of medicine between the patient and the doctor, to eliminate the middleman, to lower health-care costs, and to help consumers take back control of their health-care dollars.
The new video is the second AID has produced in a series designed to educate consumers. The first YouTube video, “The Perfect-Money-Making Model” came out in October.
