Is Concierge Medicine Right for You?
Max Lugavere: Hi, everybody. My name is Max Lugavere. I’m a science journalist for Medscape. I am sitting here with my friend and colleague, Dr Paul Grewal, who runs a concierge medicine practice here in New York City. Thank you for being here with me, Dr Grewal. Can you tell me a little bit about what your practice is like and how it differs from a standard medical practice?
Paul S. Grewal, MD: Thanks for having me, Max. I would love to break apart some of the stigma around what concierge medicine is and maybe share a little bit of the journey that I took when I decided to do it. Any physician watching this is going to understand a lot of the frustrations that go along with practicing in the current healthcare environment. Everybody has a right as a physician to demand to practice good medicine. We all know where we are cutting corners and compromising, because we are not able to spend the time it takes to explain things to our patients, answer all of their questions, get to know them.
