One primary care physician has launched her own practice to provide better primary care than ever before. After more than a decade of consulting with patients within a small, private family medicine group, Dr. Ashlie Olp is opening her own practice in Carmel, Indiana, under the Direct Primary Care model. The impetus to venture out as a solo practitioner is the product of her own story as a patient.

“My personal journey of needing care at a dire moment sparked a lightbulb to help other patients that need a dedicated, accessible primary care physician, who is indeed their advocate,” said Dr. Olp, an Indiana-born and Indiana University educated primary physician focusing on women’s health and family medicine. “I believe in the Direct Primary Care model to give my patients healthcare options and enhance their health and well-being. My three goals are accessibility, time with patients and transparency in billing.”

Dr. Olp is opening her practice with the help of Freedom Healthworks, an organization enabling individuals to choose a physician that best suits their needs for a flat price of $50 to $150 per month, depending on the physician – while reserving their insurance for catastrophic events like broken bones and hospitalizations. Direct primary care physicians like Dr. Olp spend more time with their patients (roughly between 45 and 60 minutes) during each office visit and are more accessible, when convenient for the customer, by text, phone, email, and even digital apps, than the typical, insurance-based primary care model.

“There is indeed a true, ‘Free Market Healthcare’ solution, and it is Direct Primary Care,” said Adam Habig, co-founder and president of Freedom Healthworks. “DPC lowers healthcare prices, improves both consumer and doctor satisfaction, scales back insurance company and government intrusion, and above all else, provides options for the consumer, no matter their situation.”

Freedom Healthworks focuses on helping physicians launch their dream practices. DPC physicians are empowered to practice how they were trained to care for patients. Freedom Healthworks helps physicians open their own practices and connects them with patients seeking a direct and honest relationship with their care provider. By removing the administrative red tape associated with insurance, doctors are free to deliver care according to their clinical expertise and set clear prices their patients can afford. As a result of working with Freedom Healthworks, many physicians report being more inspired, happier with their career, more dedicated to their calling and are no longer are on the brink of burnout.

Dr. Ashlie Olp is accepting new patients and treating them at their homes and through digital interactions. Her freestanding, bricks-and-mortar office will open later this Autumn.

Freedom Healthworks propels the launch, growth and operation of independent, direct primary care practices. By liberating physicians to serve patients instead of insurance companies, we hope to restore Americans’ freedom to purchase excellent, affordable medical care from private physicians they know and trust.
