Americans for Prosperity | PRESS RELEASE | May 1, 2017 – Virginia (AFP-VA) is encouraged by Governor Terry McAuliffe signing SB 800, which cuts out insurance middlemen and lets patients form “direct primary care” agreements with their doctors. These agreements let Virginians pay their doctor directly for routine services, often at a discount, instead of billing insurance.

AFP-VA Deputy State Director JC Hernandez issued the following statement:

“We are encouraged by Governor McAuliffe signing SB 800, a sensible step toward increasing access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for Virginians. Unfortunately, patients and doctors still face a multitude of burdensome regulations that keep healthcare costs high. We urge Governor McAuliffe to pursue further reforms like SB 800 in the future instead of his costly, perennial Medicaid expansion gambit.”

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) exists to recruit, educate, and mobilize citizens in support of the policies and goals of a free society at the local, state, and federal level, helping every American live their dream – especially the least fortunate. AFP has more than 3.2 million activists across the nation, a local infrastructure that includes 35 state chapters, and has received financial support from more than 100,000 Americans in all 50 states.
